Signs of chlorine poisoning:
when inhaling chlorine vapor, lung damage occurs, accompanied by swelling of the oxygen-absorbing alveoli, which can rupture during coughing with the release of sputum with blood, as a result of which a person dies from lack of oxygen.
First aid in case of chlorine poisoning:
Put on a gas mask and take the victim out into the fresh air. Do not perform artificial respiration; in severe cases, oxygen inhalation should be used. Ensure complete rest. To reduce irritation – inhalation of ammonia vapors, rinsing eyes, mouth, nose with 2% baking soda solution.
Actions in the infection center:
- Close your eyes and hold your breath.
- Wrap yourself in outerwear and breathe through it (you can moisten it with water).
- Do not run.
- Try to determine the wind direction.
- Leave the infected area in the direction perpendicular to the wind.
- If it is not possible to leave, try to climb a tall object (pillar, ladder, etc.), as chlorine spreads from the bottom above the ground.
If you find any type of infection, call 101 immediately.
In case of chlorine poisoning, take the victim out of the contaminated area.
In case of respiratory arrest, perform artificial respiration. Wash the skin, mouth, nose with a 2% solution of baking soda or water.
