The mobile app "Translator SL" has activated the registration of personal DEAf IDs—an electronic certificate for deaf people designed to simplify the lives of deaf and hard-of-hearing people by making communication with others more convenient and safer.
What is DEAF ID?
DEAF ID is an electronic certificate for people for whom sign language is the only natural means of communication.
- It confirms the status of a person with hearing loss.
- enables automatic discounts and bonuses from partners of the NGO "Public Movement "Social Unity";
- works both in Ukraine and abroad — the card has Ukrainian and English versions (with automatic translation);
- provides access to institutions where free communication with a sign language interpreter is available.
How does it work?
The "Interpreter SL" app has an "Answering Machine" feature. This means that DEAF ID holders can:
- receive calls and video messages from sign language interpreters;
- leave their DEAF ID number for feedback (for example, to a doctor, craftsman, or the police);
- receive messages in sign language if they are unable to answer the call.
How to get a DEAF ID?
- Download the "Interpreter SL" app from Google Play or the App Store.
- Go to the "DEAF ID" section.
- Watch the sign language video with the code.
- Enter the code, fill in your details, and click "Create Card."
Registration is only available to those who know sign language — this is confirmed during the authentication stage. All user personal data is protected and confidential.
