December was particularly full of important events. The NGO Public Movement "Social Unity" was pleased to join the 12th Civil Society Development Forum.
Almost 2.5 thousand participants in person and more than 4.5 thousand participants online – the Forum has once again become a point of synchronization of everyone with everyone, identification of trends and discussion of the most pressing issues of the country's development.
Various discussions on extremely important topics were held on the main stage:
- National identity: is the power within us?
- Eurovision: how does integration into the EU forms Ukraine's strength?
- How to finally learn the lessons of our history?
The forum visitors were looking for answers to these and other important questions.
The main purpose of these questions is to comprehensively explore the important role of national identity in shaping social resilience, especially in the context of a prolonged war.
The mistake of the past – unlearned lessons of history – has direct negative consequences. We looked for the enemy within and flirted with the real enemy instead, we devalued the importance of the army in defending the territory and often cherished an alien culture.
Now we have to determine to what extent European integration is a source of strength for Ukraine's modernization and development, and outline the main challenges and tasks facing Ukraine as a candidate country for EU membership.
The participants also discussed the important role of civil society in promoting the necessary reforms and strengthening Ukraine's position in the upcoming accession negotiations.
The event was highlighted by a trade fair.
Traditionally, social businesses presented their products and mission at the Forum's exhibition area. Despite the difficult times, businesses manage not only to develop and start from scratch, but also to provide assistance to those affected by the war.
By purchasing goods at the fair or simply donating using the QR code located near each stall, visitors were able to contribute to the common struggle for victory.
The team of the NGO Public Movement "Social Unity" was happy to become a part of this event. We will certainly do our best to expand the barrier-free environment in Ukraine and bring victory in the shameful war closer.
