Dear friends! You have probably seen information about the rapid spread of the hepatitis A virus in Ukraine. We hasten to inform you that the information about the "outbreak" of hepatitis A in 5 regions of Ukraine is not true.
An "outbreak" of an infection is considered to be several diseases linked by a common source and/or transmission factor.
The outbreak of hepatitis A was recorded only in Vinnytsia region. In the rest of the regions, only isolated cases have been reported that do not have a common epidemiological link. Hepatitis A is seasonal and usually manifests itself in the cold season.
Currently, in the only region of the outbreak, Vinnytsia Oblast, vaccination of people who have been in contact with patients with hepatitis A, as well as medical workers, emergency workers and other professionals involved in the outbreak response, is underway.
