The non-governmental organization Public Movement “Social Unity” signed a Memorandum of Partnership with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine. To perform the tasks of the National Strategy for barrier-free space in Ukraine, together with NGO Public Movement "Social Unity" the Ministry of Internal Affairs is implementing pilot projects that gradually become the standard and are implemented at the national level. Launching services for people with various forms of disabilities in all structural units and central executive bodies in the structure of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the State Migration Service is planned.

Web widget for people with hearing impairments on the website of the Headquarters of the National Police of Kyiv
It is a pilot project, by which Deaf and Hard of Hearing Ukrainians can directly make a phone call to any number listed on the contact page. The online dialogue is joined by a sign language interpreter who represents the interests of the hearing impaired user and fully holds the dialogue with the service representative, translating from sign language into oral; everything that is said by voice is translated into sign language for the Deaf or Hard of Hearing participant of the dialogue in real-time.

Round-the-clock and non-voice 102 call
There is a possibility of mute calls to emergency services in the mobile application "Translator SL". Calling service 102 is not an exception. The Deaf or Hard of Hearing user of the application, being in a dangerous situation, calls the police. Emergency calls are of the highest priority for sign language interpreters of the Center for Social Support of Deaf and Hard of Hearing People. In this way, the user does not waste time and calls directly to 102 service.

Kyiv police crews are provided with the possibility of round-the-clock online video communication with a SL interpreter
The pilot project involves the installation of specialized licensed software on tablets of Kyiv police crews. With the help of the application, police officers can call a sign language interpreter via video link for a comfortable and barrier-free dialogue with a Deaf or Hard of Hearing participant of a dialogue. The introduction of modern digital solutions simplifies communication between people with and without hearing loss and ensures the social independence of people with various forms of disabilities, guaranteeing them equal rights and opportunities.

The service centers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs are provided with digital solutions for communication with people with hearing impairments
Tablets for fast connection and free communication with Deaf and Hard of Hearing visitors have been installed in the service centers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kyiv, Odesa, Lviv, Dnipro, Kharkiv. A sign language interpreter joins the dialogue and helps hearing-impaired visitors to resolve any personal issues quickly without any communication barriers.

Round-the-clock access to sign language interpreters in border control areas
The software operates in Boryspil, Zhuliany, Odessa, Lviv, and Stanytsia Luhanska. These are just the first steps in a pilot project that needs to be implemented constantly. Further actions will be aimed at increasing the physical accessibility of certain facilities for people with various forms of disabilities, as well as the accessibility of information in the field of public services for citizens with impairments of vision, hearing, intellectual development, and others, taking into account their communication needs and capabilities. All facilities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Eastern direction will be equipped with special software for free communication with Deaf and Hard of Hearing people. All websites will be adapted to the specificities of perception of people with partial or complete loss of vision and hearing.

Pilot project for the system of the Ministry of Internal Affairs on the introduction of sign language translation at the National Police of Ukraine
Public Movement "Social Unity" won the competition announced by the Fund for Social Protection of the Disabled and received state support for the realization of a charitable pilot project for the Ministry of Internal Affairs, introducing sign language translation at the National Police of Ukraine in order to provide legal assistance and prompt clarification to people with hearing impairments regarding their rights and responsibilities in specific legal situations in Ukraine and the creation of 4 relevant videos. As part of the project, four social videos were created and published.

A joint initiative with the State Emergency Service of Ukraine on training safety rules for people with hearing impairment
The State Service for Emergency Situations in Ukraine and the NGO "Public Movement "Social Unity" jointly created the educational section "Safety Alphabet", designed to inform and disseminate information about possible dangers to life, as well as how to avoid them. The topics will relate to both wartime and general rules of behavior with electrical appliances, during natural disasters, in the event of the radiation spread, chemical substances, etc. The format of the content to be published in the section is video with audio accompaniment and sign language translation.
