If you notice a fire, notify the conductor or contact the driver via the intercom if you are able to. Follow their instructions clearly. Inform passengers about what happened. Wake up sleeping passengers and take children's hands.
If you can't talk to the conductors, move to the next car with other people and report the fire to the other conductors.
It is safest to evacuate to the front cars, but if this is not possible, go to the end of the train, closing the doors of compartments and inter-car passages tightly behind you. Be sure to check with the conductor whether there are people in the vestibules, compartments, and toilets of the burning car.
Use fire extinguishers and improvised means (blankets, wet rags, etc.) to try to extinguish the fire with the passengers. Close the windows to prevent the wind from fanning the flames. Do not try to save your luggage from the fire if it threatens your safety (take only the most necessary things - documents, money, valuables, etc.).
If the fire has cut you off from the exits, go into the compartment or toilet, closing the door tightly behind you, open the window and wait for help to arrive, drawing attention to yourself. Do not jump from the train car and do not try to get to the roof – it is dangerous!
If it is not possible to extinguish the fire and contact the train manager or the driver, stop the train with a stop emergency brake, get all people out of the car, and together with the conductors, uncouple the cars, preventing the fire from spreading to the entire train.
Move passengers away from the burning car and report the incident via the SOS button in the Translator SL app to the Rescue Service by calling 101. Then follow the instructions of the train conductor and firefighters.
If you notice any signals from people who are still in the car, immediately report them to the fire department. Prevent panic and provide first aid to the victims.
