First and foremost, immediately protect the respiratory organs from further exposure to chemical hazards.
Place a gas mask or a cotton-gauze bandage on the victim, previously moistened with water or a 2% solution of baking soda in case of chlorine poisoning, and with water or a 5% solution of citric acid in case of ammonia poisoning. Remove the victim from the contamination zone and privide him or her with rest and warmth.
Remember! Initial medical assistance for chemical exposure involvesprotecting the respiratory organs, removing and decontaminating persistent chemical agents on the skin, mucous membranes of the eyes, clothing, and immediate evacuation from the contaminated area.
In case of ammonia poisoning, remove the victimfrom contaminated area, rinse the skin, mouth, and nose with water. Apply two to three drops of 30% sulfacetamide (albucid) to the eyes and olive oil to the nose.
If necessary, transport the victim to a medical facility.
