Not far from the center of Lviv, the Gasova Lampa restaurant-museum was visited by a group of visitors with hearing impairments. With the support of the NGO Public Movement "Social Unity" and accompanied by sign language interpreter Olena Chernyshova, deaf Lviv residents and guests had the opportunity to learn more about an important invention that changed the world.
The restaurant-museum "Gasova Lampa" in Lviv is a unique combination of history, art and gastronomy. The exposition is dedicated to the invention of Lviv pharmacists Jan Zeg and Ignacy Lukasiewicz in 1853, and features a collection of kerosene lamps, the second largest in Europe.
The museum features 528 copies of kerosene lamps from different eras and countries. In addition, you can see an accurately reproduced copy of one of the first kerosene lamps. In addition to the lamps, the museum recreates all stages of oil production, from the winch and pump to the distiller.
Jan Seeg's workroom is interesting, with items used by pharmacists of the time. Here you can also see an alchemical laboratory with mysterious ciphers on the floor. On the walls are photographs and paintings of the Boryslav oil fields, which in the nineteenth century ranked third in the world in terms of production.
The tour ends with an amazing room where all the tables and chairs are located on the ceiling.
